September Sun and Fun
Did you know that the sun’s alignment in September is different from the summer sunlight? Have you noticed that your grass is growing slower? Have you felt a breeze in the evenings? The September sunlight is lower due to the earth’s tilt, shining its rays longer across the horizon instead of higher and directly down on the earth. This makes for cooler days and gives the earth the fall glow that sets it apart from summer dog days!
Let me introduce you to my friend Dr. Gary Bachman, a horticulturist, who has a video series called Daily Dose of Hort! It was on my mind to share what Gary does for the fall in this newsletter and I promise I did not know he was using TheMaxBit during this video! Visit his website and watch his video below. https://gary-grows.com/

I like to think of September as the preparatory transitional month. The link between the end of summer and true fall. It is a time to take a breath, but also prepare for what is ahead. So relax, just not for too long. Make a plan, dig in the dirt, plant some seeds, smell the earth, and watch it grow.
Farmers know that fall is garden time! I live in a place where on my daily drive, I pass a number of fields planted with fall gardens. It excites me to watch the produce grow, knowing that soon it will be in our local markets for us to buy. You may not live in my neck of the woods, so here is a link by Urban Famer, that provides a US map with what to plant when and much more!!

So until next time, enjoy your September, the month of the lower sun!
