Half n’ Half
In some places around the world, as seasons change, it appears that the seasons are confused. We see temps in the high 50-60 degrees for a day or so and then snow in the forecast. I just lived through this in Colorado. Last week, some bushes were starting to bloom and today we have 4-5” of snow with more in the forecast.
An early bloomer plant that shows its beauty in this seasonal transition is called Snow Drops. What a name for a flower that pops up from the ground as spring approaches while a remnant of snow is still on the ground. One of the places I have visited that has harsh winters and beautiful spring seasons is Toronto, Canada. The botanical gardens there radiate with beauty both in color, greenery, and artwork. Here is a picture of Snow Drops peaking through and welcoming spring about 15 days early.
As the seasons change we see a transition in real time. Additional words that describe this phenomenon we have become so familiar with are change, shift, and adjustment. These words often bring negative pictures, but as we transition from winter to spring in the US, let’s keep in mind the necessity of transition and change that brings the next wave of beauty the earth displays.
I love winter and the way snow gives everything a white beauty, but I also love spring with its beauty of color. Winter has come and is going. Spring is almost here. Let’s enjoy the transition of seasons as much as we enjoy each season.
