Florida Palms, National Perennials, & Texas Power

Over the past months I traveled from Asia to America, from Denver to the South (MS, Al, and Fl). Then from Florida to Arkansas, from Arkansas to Kansas and back to Colorado. Then if that was not enough from Colorado to New Mexico to Texas where we encountered several nasty hail storms. All this only to land back in the south in the heat of late spring.

Florida, famous for its palms, sports 5 different varieties. They make a landscape seem almost magical with their majestic trunks and kingly palm leaf wave. Check out the article below if you are thinking of planting a palm for proper palm care.

The variety of terrain from state to state amazed me. The similarity of plants that flourished from state to state caught my attention. Although Florida is famous for its palms, many perennials flourish all over the US. Better Homes and Gardens lists several perennials and the zones they flourish in. You might find some on the list you forgot about. I know I did.

And finally, power comes from the windmills that dot the sky of Texas. They loom against the blue sky, turning ever so gently to generate the power needed plus some. With the amount of energy produced by the Texas windmills, if Texas were a country it would rank 5th in the world. As I traveled across the state of Texas the windmills kept me mesmerized and passed the time as the miles slipped by.

If you travel this summer, take in the scenery, observe your surroundings, and stay safe. A big thank you to the security guard that watched over us at the Texas rest area during the storms. Thank you!

Until next time, remember the heart of the matter is the matter of the heart!
